Complete Bio

Austin spent his childhood learning the craft of writing and public speaking from his father, a professional minister.  He attended Mars Hill College in the mountains of North Carolina where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  He continued his education by receiving a Master of Accounting degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.

His professional career began at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the tax department where he focused on property taxation of corporations.  While at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Austin worked with multi-national corporations to reduce their tax liability by presenting his findings before administrative law judges, state and local assessing departments, and appeal boards across the United States.  He worked with clients in the aerospace manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare, food production, airline, construction, and shipping industries.

In many cases Austin’s clients were impressed that someone of his age was able to successfully articulate the clients position and win exemptions and reductions in tax liability.

In addition to his property tax work, Austin was a popular presenter of Lunch and Learn training events.  People often commented that they were able to take away practical applications from his sessions that they could use in their work and in their personal lives.

Austin was also able to write several “commercials” that were aired during the “All-Hands” meeting attended by over 1,200 staff and influential clients.

Most recently Austin worked as an auditor for CapinCrouse LLP where his main focus was working with non-profit organizations.  Austin worked with churches, colleges and universities, para-church organizations, and foundations to audit their annual financial statements.  During his time at CapinCrouse LLP, Austin assisted management in business development as well as creating and teaching CPE training sessions.

Benj Miller of eyespeak LLC has recently hired Austin to fill the Director of Storytelling role.  Austin will be helping organizations tell their stories.
